Why a credit system?

Every AI feature on CVPulse runs a Gemini call — some short (JD match: one focused query), some long (Deep Fix: structured multi-part generation with structured output). A single credit price for everything would mean either undercharging on expensive features or overcharging on cheap ones. Credits let the cost reflect actual compute without requiring a separate checkout for each action.

How credit costs are set

Credit costs are proportional to LLM effort, not arbitrary price anchors. JD match is a single short call → 1 credit. Interview questions require résumé comprehension, gap analysis, and 6 structured outputs → 2 credits. Deep Fix involves multi-step structured generation with a full résumé schema → 10 credits. We'll lower costs if model efficiency improves significantly.

Why is the first use of each feature free?

You should see the AI's output quality before you decide to spend credits. Every AI feature has a free first use per résumé — JD match, interview questions, and the score itself. Deep Fix is the only exception: it's the product's core, and the free score + roast + JD match are already a meaningful preview of what it can do.

Why do credits not expire?

Job searching isn't predictable. You might upload three résumés in a week, then pause for two months. Credits you buy stay in your account indefinitely — we don't manufacture urgency by expiring them.

Referrals and why they give 5 credits

Sharing your score is the core viral mechanic. 5 credits is enough to run 5 JD matches or 2 sets of interview questions — meaningful value, not a token gesture. A new user who signs up via a referral also receives +5 credits on top of the standard 5-credit signup bonus, giving them 10 credits total — exactly enough to try a Deep Fix without paying.
