What a fresher's resume needs

  • Education first

Degree, college, graduation year and CGPA (with its scale, e.g. 8.4/10). Add 10th and 12th marks only if the company or your placement cell asks for them.

  • Projects that show skills

Two or three projects with what you built, the tools you used and a result: users, accuracy, a rank or a GitHub link. Projects are a fresher’s work experience.

  • Internships and roles

Even short ones. Write what you did and what changed because of it, not a list of duties.

  • Skills you can prove

List the tools your projects and internships actually used. Leave out skills you’ve only read about; interviewers ask.

  • One page

Recruiters spend seconds on a fresher résumé. One page, with the strongest material first, reads better than two.

Common fresher mistakes

  • A long objective instead of a short, specific summary.
  • Listing every course or software you’ve heard of under skills.
  • Projects with no result: say what it did, for whom, and how well.
  • Personal details recruiters don’t need: date of birth, father’s name, full address, a photo.
  • A design that hides text in images or graphics, which a placement portal can’t read.

Questions

Is this resume checker free for students?

Yes. Upload your résumé to get a Hire-Score out of 100, one honest line and what’s working, without signing up. Sign in free to see the fixes and save the report.

Should a fresher's resume have an objective?

No. Use a two-line summary that says what you’re targeting and your strongest proof, such as a project or internship result. Generic objectives take space without saying anything.

What if I don't have a resume yet?

Use Build from scratch: answer a few questions about your education, projects and skills, and CVPulse writes an ATS-friendly résumé for your target role. It costs 10 credits; new accounts start with 5 free.

Do I need 10th and 12th marks?

Some campus recruiters and placement cells in India still ask for them, so include them when they do. Otherwise your degree and CGPA are enough.

Can I check my resume against a campus job description?

Yes. After your score, sign in and paste the job description into Job match to see the keywords that role is looking for. Your first job per résumé is free.
